With over 20 years of professional performing experience, Calvin specializes in solo classical/public domain (eg. traditional carols) music, whether for holiday (eg. Christmas) parties, church services, weddings, receptions, corporate functions, private dinners, proposals, baby showers, strolling (indoor only), senior/retirement homes, online/virtual performances, private recital, music therapy (non-certified), etc.
Greater Golden Horseshoe/ Toronto symphony-level violinist (3-TIME 1st place in Texas All-State Orchestra auditions), Calvin was soloist on Charlotte's (North Carolina) classical radio station W-DAV in "Mainstreet Sessions" series, performing the virtuosic Zigeunerweisen by Sarasate. After completing Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Violin Performance at Northwestern University (Illinois), where he studied with renowned pedagogue Almita Vamos, he performed with numerous Canadian/ US orchestras, including London Symphonia (Ontario), renowned San Diego Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, Virginia Symphony and Des Moines Metro Opera and was audition semi-finalist with TORONTO SYMPHONY and LA PHIL. During his career, he was honored to perform in concert halls alongside following classical music superstars: JAMES EHNES, JOSHUA BELL, Karen Gomyo, Leila Josefowicz, LANG-LANG, Timothy Chooi, Kerson Leong, and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg as well as conductors eg. Barenboim, William Eddins, David Robertson, Hans Graf, and Jahja Ling among others. Calvin is connected to an extensive network of top-notch musicians and teachers in the classical music world (USA / Canada). Starting lessons at age 8, he made his public debut with Austin's (Texas) TV station just 2 years later. In his early years, he garnered many honors/awards: performing as concertmaster of his school, region orchestras and notably, that of Texas' All-State Orchestra only in 9th grade.
